Created to help visitors better understand the unique cultural highlights of the many groups that have come to occupy the northwestern portion of Louisiana and the state as a whole, the Multicultural Center of the South offers two floors of museum-style exhibits and displays relating to more than 25 different cultural groups. In addition to its permanent displays, the center sponsors many live performances of culturally significant music and dance, educational workshops for both children and adults and special fairs and festivals dedicated to celebrating diversity. Located downtown, the museum is near the Spring Street Historical Museum and the Sci-Port Discovery Center.
